Multi-vessel searches

SearchWell offers two options that make organising multi-vessel searches easier :

Distance from Datum

This option allows the centre of a search pattern to be a distance away from the calculated DATUM position.  

So for example, Vessel A could be doing a Sector Search around the DATUM position and at the same time Vessel B can be doing a Goal Keeper search some distance down-drift of the DATUM position.  The route for Vessel A is shown in yellow and the route for Vessel B is shown in blue

Both these searches are calculated and created at pretty much the same time, sent to different vessels, and can be done simultaneously.

Using different legs of the same search pattern

When creating the GPX file it is possible to deselect certain legs of the search so that they are not included in the GPX route.  The screen-grabs below illustrate this.

For Rescue Vessel 01

•A : Use All - the default is that all legs will be used 

oThere will be a tick in the Use All box

oThere will be a "y" in every row in the "Use" column

When you click on this Use All check box SearchWell deselects all the legs

oThe tick in the Use All box disappears

oThe "y" in the rows will disappear

Now, if you click on the Use column for the legs that you require in your GPX file

oif the Use column is blank, a "y" will appear - the leg will be included

oif the Use column has a "y" it will disappear - the leg will not be included

•B :  In the above screen grab SearchWell will include every point from the Start until point 5 and the GPX button will be clicked to create the route

•C : Points 6 on will not be included

For Rescue Vessel 02

•A : Legs 6 to 11 have been selected and the GPX button must be clicked to create the GPX file

The result (seen in Google Earth Pro) is -

The yellow route is the result of the above GPX creation (points Start to 5) and will take Rescue Vessel A approximately 15 mins to complete.  The green route is the result of a GPX creation using points 6 to 11, and will take Rescue Vessel B about 15 mins to complete.  In this way the same Search pattern can be split and allocated to different vessels and performed at the same time.
