Calculate Point B
This calculation is done when you know the coordinates of a starting point, and you have either
•a distance and a bearing to a second point
•a speed, time of travel and bearing to a second point
Header information

This information is used for both of the calculations -
•A : Magnetic Variation - this default is the magnetic variation for the default station (in this case Kommetjie). The variation can be changed if necessary
•B : Filter for the Points table - This is an optional item, but using it helps find the required point. Type in a word(s) to filter on and then press ENTER
•C : Points list - click on the small down arrow to the right of the field to see the list of points and then click on the point your require
•D : You can either type in the coordinates you require (and not use the Points table), or, if you have selected a point from the Points table SearchWell will automatically put the coordinates of the selected point in this box
Distance and Bearing

•A : Distance to the Point B in nautical miles
•B : Bearing from the known point to Point B
•C : You must say whether the bearing is a True (default) or a Magnetic bearing
•D : Click on the CALCULATE button to perform the calculation
•E : The result of the calculation will be displayed in the Answer box
oThe coordinates of Point B as Decimal Degrees
oThe coordinates of Point B as Degrees and Decimal Minutes
•F : CLEAR button to clear all the information on the form
•G : GPX button will create a GPX file with Point B as a waypoint. This can be imported into Google Earth Pro and sent to a Rescue Vessel
Speed, time and bearing

•A : Speed - the average speed the vessel will travel in knots
•B : Time - the number of minutes they will travel for until they reach Point B
•C : Bearing - the bearing they will travel on
•D : True or Magnetic - which kind of bearing has been given
•E : CALCULATE button - click on this button to perform the calculation
•F : The answer will appear in the Answer box

oCoordinates of Point B as Degrees and Decimal Minutes
•G : GPX button - click on this button to create a GPX file with Point B as a waypoint
•H : CLEAR button - click on this button to clear all the information on the form
