Rendezvous Point

The Rendezvous Point is used to calculate the most time efficient meeting point of two vessels that are moving under control (not drifting).

For this calculation it is important that the casualty vessel can maintain a speed and a bearing eg. the vessel is taking water but can still be controlled, or we are involved with a medical evacuation situation.

The process is as follows - 

•A : Casualty Vessel - We need to know the following information

oThe coordinates that it is at at a particular date and time

oThe average speed that it will be able to maintain until the rescue vessel can reach it

oThe bearing that it will be following

•B : Rescue Vessel - we need the following information

oThe date and time it will start it's journey to the casualty

oThe coordinates that it will be departing from

oThe average speed that it can maintain until it reaches the casualty

•C : Click on the Calculate button

With this information SearchWell calculates the optimal meeting location

•D : ETA at the Rendezvous Point

•E : Casualty Vessel meeting point - if the casualty vessel has a working navigational device, they should head towards this location

•F : Rescue Vessel

oThe coordinates it should head toward

oThe distance they will have to travel

oThe bearing they will travel on

oThe length of time it will take for them to get to the Rendezvous point

•G : Where the casualty should be when they get to the Rendezvous point - in the above screen grab they should see the casualty as they approach the Rendezvous point, but the casualty should be on a south-west of the point they are aiming at. 

•H : Clicking on the GPX button will create a file with the Rescue Vessel waypoint that can be sent to the vessel and loaded onto their navigation device
